FEDERAL Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch says the Green Army will be working hard in Hope Vale over the next year following the announcement of two successful projects.
Both projects are sponsored by the Balkanu Cape York Development Corporation, with one focusing on cleaning up marine debris, and the other focusing on rehabilitating Everlina and Carroll creeks.
“This is a great opportunity for young people aged 17 to 24 to gain skills, training and experience in environmental and conservation fields, while participating in projects that generate real benefits for the Australian environment,” said Mr Entsch.
“The marine debris reduction project will involve cleaning up the Hope Vale Congress Beaches ? particularly the stretch along Cape Flattery Beach.
“Meanwhile, the Everlina and Carroll Creek rehabilitation projects will help with revegetation, clean-ups, erosion remediation and refining walking access across the catchment area.”
Young people interested in joining these Green Army projects can apply through Campbell Page by calling 1300 139 920.
The Green Army is a hands-on, practical environmental action programme that supports local environment and heritage conservation projects across Australia.
