LEICHHARDT MP Warren Entsch says he is ready to work with the new Liberal Party leadership team of Malcolm Turnbull and Julie Bishop, after tonight’s party room vote result.
Mr Entsch said the ballot process in the Party Room was very cordial.
“The results of the votes for both the leader and deputy leader positions were quite decisive,” he said.
“This will certainly draw a line under all the speculation, now we’ve got to deliver and in my view, it’s business as usual.
“I enjoyed a good relationship with the former Prime Minister; I also enjoy a good relationship with Mr Turnbull as the new Prime Minister.
“Now what we need is a good strong executive, and a government that is run by the executive – that’s critical. If we can emulate the success of the Howard government, which I was a member of for 12 years, I think our region and our country will be all the better for it.
“At the end of the day I certainly look forward to working with the new leadership team and I’ll continue to focus on the things I want to achieve for our region, including implementing the commitments of our Northern Australia policy.”
