Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch is delighted to announce the upcoming launch of the Play Our Way grant program, an initiative by the Department of Health and Aged Care. This program represents a significant investment in sports and physical activity for women and girls, with funding of up to $200 million available over three years, starting from 2024-25.
The Play Our Way program will focus on two key areas:
Facilities (Stream 1): This stream will fund projects for new and upgraded sport facilities and amenities, playing areas, and spaces, catering specifically to the needs of women and girls. Applicants can seek funding from $50,000 to $1,500,000, with an increased maximum of $2,000,000 available for projects in small rural towns and remote communities.
Participation and Equipment (Stream 2): This stream will support sustainable and enduring sport participation programs, and/or new or upgraded equipment, specifically for women and girls. Funding for this stream ranges from $50,000 to $1,000,000.
The Leichhardt MP said the Play Our Way grant is an opportunity to address participation barriers and ensure safe, inclusive, and sustainable facilities and programs.
“I encourage local sports clubs, community groups, and organisations in Leichhardt to review the guidelines and consider applying for this fantastic opportunity,” said Mr Entsch.
The grant opportunity guidelines are available, providing potential applicants with crucial information. Additionally, a webinar is scheduled for 22 March 2024 to provide further insights into the program and application process.
