The Coalition Government will invest $12,000 to deliver vital upgrades at the Holloways Beach Men’s Shed.
The investment will allow the shed to undertake much-needed paving work to make it more accessible for its members.
Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch said he had been working closely with Holloways Beach Men’s Shed to secure this much-needed funding.
He said the investment was secured in this year’s federal budget as part of the government’s highly-successful Community Development Fund.
“We can invest in this type of community infrastructure, without having to increases taxes, because of our responsible economic management and strong economy,” Mr Entsch said.
“This investment will make a real and significant difference to the hundreds of people who use Holloways Beach Men’s Shed on a daily basis.
“This is something I am extremely proud to be able to deliver for the community.”
Mr Entsch said men are often the last ones to make their health and wellbeing a priority and organisations like the men’s shed offer vital support for local residents.
“The Holloways Beach Men’s Shed has come along in leaps and bounds over the past few years,” he said.
“Like all sheds across Australia, the Holloways Beach Men’s Shed offers support to any local men who need a bit of space and some friendly, easy-going company.”
Holloways Beach Men’s Shed secretary Michael Bennett welcomed the Coalition Government’s $12,000 investment.
“All the boys at the Holloways Beach Men’s Shed wish to thank Warren Entsch and his staff for the wonderful investment in our shed,” Mr Bennett said.
“This is fantastic news for our shed and this investment will go a long way in helping us ensure our shed becomes one of the best in the region.”
