FEDERAL Member for Leichhardt Mr Warren Entsch has welcomed the Australian Government’s funding for a much-needed upgrade to the Groves Creek Bridge.
“The Abbott Government is committing over $53 million to 14 projects across Queensland as part of Round One of the Bridges Renewal Programme,” said Mr Entsch.
”I’m pleased that the Mareeba Shire Council has received $425,000 to replace the Groves Creek Bridge on Speewah Road.”
Mr Entsch said the new bridge will be widened to two-lanes and include approaches and a guard rail.
“This upgrade will make a huge difference for people in the Speewah area – both in terms of convenience and safety,” he said.
The Australian Government has committed $114 million under Round One of the programme, with a total commitment of $300 million over five years from 2014-15 for the entire programme.
