Happy New Year! I hope you managed to have a break and enjoy spending time with friends and family over the festive season, as I did, because I know that 2013 is going to be a very exciting year.

I have just received confirmation that I have been formally endorsed – unopposed - as the LNP’s candidate for Leichhardt in the upcoming federal election. I’m looking forward to advocating for local projects including the establishment of the Tropical Campus of the Australian Institute of Sport and related infrastructure, ongoing upgrades to the Bruce Highway, and supporting the creation of a new meeting and entertainment precinct in Port Douglas alongside the lagoon and waterfront redevelopment.

I’m also committed to the sustainable, multiple use of our oceans and waterways, and, of course, rejecting the lockout mentality promoted by the current Labor government through the proposed blanket World Heritage Listing of Cape York and the Coral Sea Marine park.
