FEDERAL Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch is encouraging Year 10 and 11 girls who live in rural Far North Queensland to take part in the 2015 Country to Canberra Essay Competition.
“We’re on the look-out for future female leaders,” said Mr Entsch.
“All you need to do is submit a 500-word essay, blog post or story explaining what you would do to help achieve gender equality if you were Prime Minister for a day.
“One girl from every state and territory will win a ‘Power Trip’ to Canberra where they’ll meet inspiring female politicians and executives, and go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Parliament House and the War Memorial.
“They’ll also win online mentorship sessions to take their leadership skills to the next level,” he said.
The top 15 finalists in the Country to Canberra competition will have their essay published online.
The competition closes on 10th September 2015, and is open to all year 10 and 11 female students who attend school in a rural, regional or remote area – more than 50km away from a city of 50,000 people.
