Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch today announced $91,030 to improve access to child care for children and families living in Cooya Beach.
Mr Entsch said the Port Explorers Cooya Campus would receive Morrison Government support through the Community Child Care Fund.
“This funding will help the centre to cover their day-to-day costs, offer transport assistance to isolated families and create additional places, ensuring families in Cooya Beach could access child care services,” Mr Entsch said.
“This investment will help our providers overcome some of the unique challenges child care services in the city don’t face, such as attracting and retaining qualified staff.
“It means more hard-working families in Cooya Beach can take advantage of our government’s Child Care Subsidy to work, learn or volunteer.
“The CCCF is part of our government’s Child Care Safety Net, which aims to give the most vulnerable children a strong start, while supporting parents into work.”
Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan said the Morrison Government was providing more than $7 million to 76 child care providers in disadvantaged areas across the country.
“Our government is providing a record investment of $8.6 billion for child care this year,” Mr Tehan said.
“Our Child Care Subsidy has reduced out-of-pocket child care costs for families by more than 7.9 per cent.”
The Morrison Government has provided more than $120 million to 800 providers over five years to support more families to access child care through the CCCF.
