Australian Defence Force families who have provided essential support during the COVID-19 pandemic today received a funding boost under the government’s Family Support Funding Program.
Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch said Little Diggers Community Centre would receive $8500 under the program which enables defence families to connect and interact with each other and the community in a variety of ways.
“Defence families make significant sacrifices and this funding will go a long way to ensure they are supported and connected with the local Cairns community,” Mr Entsch said.
“I congratulate the Little Diggers Community Centre which I know will do great work supporting and caring for the children of our defence men and women.”
Little Diggers Community Centre is one of nine not-for-profit organisations to receive funding which had been affected by the challenges of this year to provide programs and activities that support the wellbeing of ADF families.
The funding provided through the FSFP is available to community organisations to deliver support and services of value to defence families and the community they live in.
The grants are managed by the Defence Community Organisation which provides a wide range of programs, information and assistance for defence families.
Defence families can contact the Defence Family Helpline on 1800 624 608 for information on accessing community resources.
