FEDERAL Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch says the count-down is on to March 20 when the first parts of Cairns switch over to the National Broadband Network.
“There’s now less than one month until sections of Cairns CBD are switched over from their current broadband service to the NBN,” said Mr Entsch.
“But the switch isn’t automatic,” he said, “so those people who are able to order an NBN service but haven’t yet need to contact their phone or internet provider as soon as possible.”
Mr Entsch added that NBN Co, the company building the National Broadband Network, will be holding four information sessions next Wednesday 4 March to help the community understand more about the new high-speed network.
“I’d strongly encourage residents and business owners who live and work in Cairns CBD to attend one of these sessions and ask the NBN representatives any questions they might have,” said Mr Entsch.
The hour-long presentation and question sessions will be held at the Cairns RSL at 10:30am, 12:30am and 4:00pm, with an additional question time at 2:00pm. No RSVP is necessary.
