The Morrison Government has today announced the successful recipients of the Indigenous Land Enterprise Infrastructure Fund grants.
Five organisations* in Far North Queensland will receive funding totalling $1.155 million.
Indigenous Australians Minister Ken Wyatt AM said new and improved infrastructure will create jobs and deliver lasting improvements to 19 remote communities.
“The Indigenous Land Enterprise Infrastructure Fund is one of the ways we’re helping remote communities recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting economic growth and providing jobs on country,” Mr Wyatt said.
“It focuses on projects in primary industries and land management sectors that expand or improve the viability of their activities and that create more employment.
“Across the country, we’re delivering a range of infrastructure including off-grid solar power systems, water infrastructure (boars, tanks and troughs), fences, stockyards, sheds and irrigation systems.
Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch said that indigenous organisations in Far North Queensland will be able to further develop and take their operations to a new level.
“Wuthathi Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC in Cape York is one of five indigenous entities that were successful in the highly competitive round.
“They will use a $299,570 grant to construct female ranger accommodation, senior ranger accommodation and a bore for secure water supply.
“Yintjingga Aboriginal Corporation in Cape York is another successful applicant and will receive $255,000 to upgrade water treatment and distribution system at Port Stewart that will provide a safe and reliable water supply to community.”

A second ILEIF grant round will be run in the 2022–23 financial year.

- Muunthiwarra Aboriginal Corporation, Cape York – $145,000
- Rinyirru (Lakefield) Aboriginal Corporation, Cape York – $299,977
- Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC, Cape York – $299,570
- Yintjingga Aboriginal Corporation, Cape York – $255,000
