Each year, students from around Leichhardt take part in my Christmas Card Competition in the hope of winning some great prizes from Cairns Penny and having their entry feature on my annual Christmas Card.
There was a wide variety of ideas on the theme ‘Christmas in the Tropics’. Some focused on family, others on being outside on the Reef or in the sunshine, or Santa’s sleigh being driven by a pair of kangaroos, what wonderful imagination!
I welcomed the number of entries from around the electorate this year – particularly in Cape York and the Torres Strait – and the variety of media and materials that were used.
Thanks to all the teachers and students who got involved in the competition and also to Peter Phillips and the team at Cairns Penny for their ongoing support.
