The Morrison Government is providing a one-off cost of living payment of $250 for Far North Queenslanders most in need.
The new temporary, targeted and responsible cost of living package is designed to take the pressure off household budgets.
Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch said pensioners, carers, veterans, job seekers, eligible self-funded retirees and concession card holders will benefit.
He said the payments would be tax-exempt and will be made automatically to eligible recipients in April 2022.
“The Morrison Government recognises Far North Queenslanders are facing cost of living pressures,” Mr Entsch said.
“This cost of living payment will directly benefit more than 14,930 pensioners, 5440 disability support recipients, 1815 carers, 17,140 jobseekers and 26,790 eligible self-funded retires living in my electorate.”
The one-off cost of living payment comes on top of the 2.1 per cent Age Pension, Disability Support Pension and Carer Payment rate increase in March 2022.
A further increase will occur in September 2022.
