Applications for the Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program are now open with Cairns and Far North Queensland organisations encouraged to apply for funding to support their commemorative projects and activities.
Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch said the program was now entering its 25th year and had already supported thousands of projects nationally including in Cairns and Far North Queensland.
“Cairns and Far North Queensland has a rich military history and each year this community does what it can to ensure we remember those who served and their efforts in defending our nation and its allies,” Mr Entsch said.
“At the heart of commemoration is our communities and these grants will continue to provide the extra assistance needed in order to remember their local wartime history and service personnel.
“Projects and activities these grants have supported include developing digital databases of Australians who have served, restoring commemorative sites of significance and producing resources that will keep the stories of our veterans alive for generations to come.”
The Grant Opportunity Guidelines have also been revised for 2021–22, which includes more information around COVID-19 support and new opening and closing dates.
