The vision for the Botanic Garden Mossman (BGM) has become much clearer with the launch of the Masterplan and Business Development Plan at the site in central Mossman.
I was honoured to reveal the new signage on the 50-acre block, located between Foxton Ave and the Mossman River, and to help BGM chair John Sullivan and Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu to plant the first tree.
The BGM board then unveiled the fly-through of the Masterplan – and I think it’s safe to say that everyone present was blown away.
The garden designs, set around the iconic central shape of a Boyd’s Rainforest Dragon, are innovative and exciting and will be a landmark new chapter in Wet Tropics development, leading to many jobs and boosting economic growth for the region.
The next step is fundraising through tax-deductible donations, corporate sponsorships, private benefactors and the Friends of the BGM organisation. Since the launch of the Masterplan, they’ve already received $17,000 in private donations from supporters across the region.
I commend this vision of the Botanic Garden Mossman, and look forward to staying involved with this inspirational project. Follow the progress at http://www.mossmanbotanicgarden.com.au/
