LEICHHARDT MP Warren Entsch has congratulated the new members of the Torres Strait Regional Authority and their new Chairperson, Mr Joseph Elu, on their appointment this week.
“This is an exciting time,” Mr Entsch said today. “There are a range of issues that need to be addressed and I look forward to a constructive relationship where we can achieve some major outcomes.”
Eight board members have been appointed as ‘policy champions’, representing a range of program areas, and giving them the opportunity to advocate for the entire Torres Strait region.
“This is going to be very valuable in taking a holistic view as to what is best for the Torres Strait,” Mr Entsch said.
“The new members are going to gain some very good insights into their particular policy areas and will be able to take those insights to committees and decision-makers outside the area.”
