A NEW CAIRNS-BASED creativity and innovation hub is giving budding innovators and entrepreneurs a space to get their ideas tested and, more importantly, funded, says the Federal Member for Leichhardt Mr Warren Entsch.
theSPACE on Mulgrave Road has created a central location where Cairns residents and businesses can bring their ideas and be coached and supported.
“Cairns has the potential to be the Silicon Valley of Australia,” said Mr Entsch.
“We’re surrounded by brilliant, innovative and forward-thinking minds, but often those people don’t know where to go or who to talk to to make their dream a reality.”
theSPACE is holding a Startup Weekend from Friday 21 November to Sunday 23 November to coincide with Global Entrepreneurial Week and Startup Weekend Global. Local residents or businesses who are looking to develop a new idea are encouraged to visit http://thespacecairns.com/whats-on to find out more.
“We need to reverse the regional brain-drain by fostering a spirit of innovation that is supported by investment,” said Mr Entsch.
“Cairns can become a business startup hub where entrepreneurs from all around Australia can come to develop their ideas and base their companies.”
