FEDERAL Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch has congratulated Cape York Camping Punsand Bay for winning the Regional Award at the 2015 Telstra Queensland Business Awards.
The business owners, who were also finalists in the Start-Up category, were presented with the award at a Gala Dinner in Brisbane last night.
Mr Entsch said: “This is a real testament to the extraordinary ability and entrepreneurship of the team at Cape York Camping Punsand Bay.
“They’ve created an iconic Far North Queensland business in a truly unique location – just 5km west of the northern-most tip of Cape York. I actually stayed there several years ago, and can attest to the challenges that businesses such as this face being in an extremely remote location.
“Cape York Camping was up against a number of other businesses of very high calibre so, for them to win the Regional Award is an absolutely outstanding effort.”
Cape York Camping Punsand Bay will now proceed to the national Awards to be held in Sydney on 20 August.
“I’ll be following the event with a very keen interest,” said Mr Entsch, “and I know I speak for all of us in saying I hope they also take home gold next month.”
