In just a few weeks, my wife Yolonde and seven other Cairns Corporate Challenge trekkers will head off on the adventure of a lifetime.
The group are commemorating the heroic feats of our young soldiers by trekking along the Kokoda trail’s 96 kilometres of mud and mountain range.
They’ve been training for months – walking along local trails such as the Lambs Head Range – and are using the walk to raise awareness and money for YWAM Medical Ships Australia (MSA).
As the Cairns Ambassador for YWAM MSA, Yolonde partnered with Sue Fitcher from Getaway Trekking & Adventures for this year’s Cairns Corporate Challenge.
Their goal is to raise $38,000 to purchase a TB GenX Machine for the diagnostics laboratory on board the ship.
This machine will allow YWAM volunteers to test and treat tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy and other communicable diseases while anchored at bay in remote and rural parts of Papua New Guinea.
If you would like to support the wonderful work of the volunteers at YWAM MSA, or encourage one of the Cairns Corporate Challenge trekkers, visit www.cairnscorporatechallenge.com.au and click the ‘donate’ link!
All money raised will make a significant difference to the lives of our neighbours in PNG.
