MEMBER for Leichhardt, Warren Entsch MP has called on the Far North Queensland community to help recognise local business women who are challenging the status quo and breaking new ground, by nominating them for the 2015 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Mr Entsch said the Telstra Business Women’s Awards, now in its 21st year, provides a unique opportunity to showcase exceptional business women in Leichhardt.
“Leichhardt has an incredible depth of business women who are achieving great things and demonstrating the value women bring to business and the importance of a diverse and equitable workforce,” said Mr Entsch.
“These women are creative and passionate individuals whose leadership and success play a crucial role in driving the nation’s productivity and performance, and ensuring our country remains relevant and competitive.
“I urge the community to get behind our local business-women by nominating them for the 2015 Telstra Business Women’s Awards – it’s a great way to champion their achievements and encourage other women to follow their own goals.”
State and Territory winners of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards will be named at events later this year, with the national awards to be announced at a gala dinner in Melbourne on Wednesday 25 November 2015.
“Last year we saw two local business-women become finalists in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards – Sonja Johnson (Regional Development Australia, Far North Queensland and Torres Strait Inc) and Bree James (Grand Publishing),” said Mr Entsch.
“I hope that this year we’ll see many more outstanding women from Far North Queensland nominated and, with our support, fully recognised for their hard work.”
