HOSTING the Australian Tourism Exchange 2014 is an opportunity for the region to put on a program that will excite and inspire travel industry representatives from around the world, says Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch.
“We cannot stress how important this announcement is,” Mr Entsch said today. “We all know how tough things have been in recent years, but it feels like we’ve turned a corner now and I think this season will be the boost that everyone needs. The hosting of the ATE in next year’s shoulder season will continue that momentum.”
Mr Entsch congratulated Rob Giason and the Tourism Tropical North Queensland team for their hard work and perseverance to attract the event.
“It’s a major coup, especially considering that Cairns is the first regional centre to host the ATE,” he said.
“Not only is it a chance to showcase our experiences and attractions at the event, but the attendees who include major global buyer companies, local and international media, and Australian tourism operators will be able to experience those products first hand before and after the event.
“Congratulations must also go to the region’s tourism operators, accommodation and service providers they are the ones providing the capacity for hosting events such as this, as well as helping to continually improve our international recognition. I’m positive that they’ll provide the delegates with memories of a lifetime.”
