FEDERAL Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch has welcomed moves by nbn Co. to provide even more accurate and timely information about the national broadband rollout.
nbn Co. has released the first phase of a new ‘check your address’ web function that provides greater clarity about when an nbn service will be available at a consumer’s residence.
Mr Entsch said that with the help of the new online function, around three-quarters of Australian households and businesses will now have a good indication of when the nbn will be available in their area.
“This functionality will be very useful as it gives Far Northerners more specific information around when they are likely to have access to the nbn,” Mr Entsch said.
“This is good news for businesses that need to plan ahead, and for home users who are keen to get access to greater download capacity and speeds for entertainment, study or e-health purposes.
“Under the Coalition, the nbn is connecting more active users every month than Labor connected during its entire time in Government.
“The nbn has met its key rollout and financial targets for the last two-and-a-half years and is on track to reach half of all Australians by mid-2017.”
The online roll-out map now also includes a ‘planned’ status to show consumers that their areas have been scheduled for design and construction. Once in the planning phase, nbn can provide consumers with a reasonable estimate of when they will be able to access the nbn.
Households and businesses are able to register their details so that nbn can contact them as more updated information about construction or service activation becomes available.
