Eligible child care providers in Far North Queensland can now apply for funding to help break down barriers that may be preventing disadvantaged and vulnerable families accessing early learning services.
Federal Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch said applications for the Government’s new $124 million Community Child Care Fund (CCCF) can be made from today and urged all eligible local child care providers to apply.
“The CCCF open competitive grant is designed to improve child care participation and increase the availability of places particularly in disadvantaged regional or remote communities,” Mr Entsch said.
“It will also assist these local child care services that may be experiencing financial viability issues.
The CCCF is a key part of the Turnbull Government’s $2.5 billion investment in child care,” Mr Entsch said.
Minister for Education and Training, Simon Birmingham, released the program guidelines for the CCCF earlier this month, giving child care providers additional time to prepare for the opening of the grant round.
As part of the CCCF grant process, there will also be a restricted non-competitive grant round, in particular for Budget Based Funded services (including mobile services) transitioning to the new child care system, with details of this process to be provided next month.
