One of the stunning winning entries from last year's competition, Stone Sentinels near Ellis Beach, by Larry Russell.
PHOTOGRAPHERS from Cairns to the Torres Strait are encouraged to get snap-happy to showcase our unique part of Australia in the annual Leichhardt Community Calendar.
Federal Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch said he was seeking images that capture the landscape, wildlife, weather and people of Far North Queensland.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to showcase their photography skills to thousands of businesses across the region with the top 14 shots – one for each month plus a front and back cover – to be included in my 2017-18 Community Calendar,” Mr Entsch said.
The calendar, which is distributed to businesses across the electorate, will feature the name of each chosen photographer, as well as details of where each photo was taken. Constituents who would like a free copy of the calendar can contact Mr Entsch’s office directly.
“The competition is now in its seventh year and I get hundreds of entries from the community, and the calendar is very well received by businesses and locals alike,” said Mr Entsch.
“I’m always amazed and impressed at the quality of images that locals submit – it definitely makes deciding on the top 14 very difficult. But at the end of the day, I try to make sure there’s a good balance of shots from around the electorate to showcase all that we love about Leichhardt.”
Images must be in landscape format, high-resolution JPEG digital image (minimum size 1Mb) and be received by 4.00pm on Friday 5th May 2017. They can be sent on CD or USB to PO Box 14 Bungalow, Queensland, 4870; dropped into the office at 200 Mulgrave Road, Cairns; or emailed to warren.entsch.mp@aph.gov.au
