Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch is inviting all young artists in Far North Queensland to participate in this year’s Christmas Card competition, themed “Your Christmas Traditions.”
Now in its thirteenth year, the competition is open to all children in the Leichhardt electorate aged between 5 and 12 years.
Winning artworks will grace the cover of Mr Entsch’s annual Christmas card, which is distributed among parliamentary colleagues and throughout Cairns and Far North Queensland.
“I’m always amazed at the creativity and talent displayed by young artists in our community,” Mr Entsch said.
“From crayon and pencil drawings to glitter and glue masterpieces, we receive hundreds of unique entries from children across Cairns and Far North Queensland each year. I can’t wait to see how they all interpret this year’s theme, ‘Your Christmas Traditions.'”
Once again, Cairns Bank will sponsor the competition by offering $150, $100, and $50 savings accounts to the top three winners.
“Cairns Bank has been a steadfast supporter of this annual tradition,” Mr Entsch noted. “They are also providing an additional five $20 accounts for designs that exhibit special merit.”
Cairns Bank General Manager Peter Phillips expressed his organisation’s continued enthusiasm for the event.
“The young artists’ winning entries will be displayed on the Cairns Bank wall, becoming part of our own festive tradition, one our customers truly appreciate,” said Mr Phillips.
Application forms and competition guidelines will be distributed to schools. The competition opens Tuesday the 3rd of October 2023, and will close on Thursday, 3 November 2023, at 5 pm.
Entries can be submitted at Mr Entsch’s office, located at 200 Mulgrave Rd, Westcourt, or mailed to PO Box 14, Bungalow, Queensland, 4870. To qualify, all entries must be original, on theme, formatted in horizontal A4, and accompanied by a completed application form.
Warren Entsch will announce the winners between 6-8 November 2023, with a special presentation ceremony at Cairns Bank in early December, likely the week commencing 11 December 2023. All Christmas cards are also expected to be posted the week of the 11th of December 2023.
All entrants will receive a personalised Certificate of Appreciation for their efforts.
