Local organisations are invited to apply for funding for arts projects at festivals or a significant community celebration in Cairns and Far North Queensland.
Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch is calling for applications to the next round of Festivals Australia funding.
He said festivals and celebrations were an important part of the unique identity of the Far North Queensland region.
“Festivals Australia funds high-quality arts projects including parades, performances, workshops and installations that engage audiences in regional and remote Australia,” Mr Entsch said.
“Through Festivals Australia funding, local artists, art workers and organisations have the opportunity to participate in and deliver projects that enrich much loved local events with arts and cultural experiences that help us celebrate and reflect on who we are.”
Mr Entsch said the Morrison Government was committed to providing opportunities to share and explore Australian stories and identity through the arts.
“Festivals are a unique and family friendly opportunity for communities to come together to participate in arts and cultural activities that reflect local experiences and draw on local talent,” he said.
Applications close on Friday, 18 October at 5pm.
